Seraph Risk Advisors
Northern UT
Seraph Risk Advisors is an independent insurance agency based in Northern UTah, serving the Wasatch Front from Ogden to Provo. We offer commercial property, general liability, workers’ compensation, and commercial auto for business owners — homeowners, personal auto, and umbrella for the families behind them. Founded by a former agent who then spent ten years as a remediation contractor, reading insurance policies at the worst possible moment.
Plenty of agencies can quote a policy. Fewer will walk you through what happens when the claim comes, why your experience mod moved three points, or which indemnification clause you signed last spring that quietly made you the responsible party.
We’re independent, which means no single carrier’s appetite decides where your coverage goes. But the placement is not the work. The work comes before it: understanding how your business makes money, where that exposes you, and what a bad day would genuinely cost.
Your home is the largest asset most families insure, and the policy covering it is the one they read least. We read them the way the field taught us — dwelling limits against real rebuild costs, replacement cost versus actual cash value, ordinance-or-law, water backup, scheduled personal property, and whether loss-of-use would carry you through an actual rebuild.
Auto is where the exposure is quietest. Utah’s required minimum limits are a floor, not a plan — a single serious injury accident can clear them in an afternoon, and raising them often costs far less than people assume. We look at liability limits against your actual net worth, uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage (which comes into play when the at-fault driver carries little or nothing), PIP, gap coverage on financed vehicles, how a teen driver reshapes the whole policy, and whether an umbrella is sitting behind all of it.
And if you drive to job sites, haul tools, or run errands for your own company, there is a question worth asking out loud: a personal auto policy may exclude business use of that vehicle entirely. It is a common gap, and it is exactly where the personal and commercial sides of our practice meet.
If you have carried the same policies for years and the only call you get is the one about the premium going up, that review is worth an hour of your time.
Ten years of remediation work put us inside homes and businesses on the worst day they’d ever had — after the fire, the flood, the death — while a policy got read out loud for the first time.
The pattern showed up fast. The coverage was almost never wrong, exactly. It was thin. Contents limits set a decade and two renovations ago. No ordinance-or-law coverage on a house that had to be rebuilt to current code. Jewelry and firearms under a sublimit nobody had mentioned. Loss-of-use that ran out months before the home was habitable. On the commercial side, the same story in a different register — liability excluded where an endorsement would have fixed it, tools and equipment uncovered, no business income when the doors stayed shut for six weeks.
Nobody had lied to these people. Nobody had looked, either.
We built Seraph to be the agency that looks.
The forms came first: years writing home and auto for a national carrier. Then a decade on the other side of them — buying coverage for a company with crews, trucks, and payroll codes that made underwriters nervous, and spending that same decade inside other people’s losses. Three sides of the same table. We’ve sold it, we’ve bought it, and we’ve cleaned up after it.
We specialize rather than generalize. MEP and specialty trade contractors, restoration and remediation companies, dental practices, and franchisors and franchisees on the commercial side. Homeowners, drivers, and families whose assets have outgrown a standard personal policy on the other. Many of our clients are both — the business owner and the household are the same balance sheet.
Seraph Risk Advisors is headquartered in Northern UTah, just outside Ogden. We work with families and businesses across Weber, Davis, Salt Lake, and Utah counties — and with franchise operators nationwide.
The seraphim are the watchful ones. That is the standard the name sets — someone paying attention between renewals, not just at them.
